Privacy and visitor statistics

Klinkemipedia is run by Filip Landgren, the controller responsible for the website's visitor statistics. Contact filip.landgren@gmail.com about your data or choices.

Your choice

I ask for your consent in the visitor statistics box. The box disappears after your choice. You can change your choice here at any time; Deny withdraws earlier consent. The website works equally well either way. Continuing to read or leaving the box unanswered does not give consent.

JavaScript must be enabled to change your choice. You can also contact me.

Ordinary page counts

I count opened pages and lectures and uses of tools. These counts contain the page path and, where available, the referring host domain, but no query parameters, tool inputs, results or visitor IDs. These counts use no analytics cookies and are not linked to town statistics.

Optional town statistics

The purpose is to estimate how many networks I reach and their approximate towns. The legal basis is your consent. Only after you accept, the server temporarily uses your IP address for a local town lookup and a code valid for the current UTC day. Raw IP addresses are not saved in the statistics database. The code exists only in server memory and is pseudonymous personal data while it remains there.

The code and its random daily key are deleted at the next UTC day or when the process stops, within 24 hours during normal operation. An API restart can cause some visits to be counted again. Town, region, country and a rounded town centre are stored as daily totals in server memory for up to 30 days. I do not back up town statistics. Rebooting the whole server deletes these totals. All known towns are shown in the private admin panel, including towns with only one recorded daily visit. Town information comes from a local DB-IP Lite database; visitors' IP addresses are not sent to DB-IP. The map does not show GPS locations or home addresses. VPNs, mobile networks and shared networks make the town and visitor estimates uncertain.

Your choice and its date are saved in your browser's local storage, without a visitor ID. The choice is valid for 180 days and is cleared when it is checked on a later visit after expiry. Withdrawal stops further town collection. I also try to remove today's code and its count for your current network. Once the daily key is deleted, earlier totals cannot be linked back to your IP address.

Protection and your rights

Town statistics are available only in the private admin panel. Your code is not linked to the pages you read. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control stop collection. You can contact me for information, access, correction, deletion, restriction of processing and data portability, and to object to processing where that right applies. These rights apply under the conditions in the GDPR to data that can still be related to you. You can withdraw consent at any time by choosing Deny on this page. You can also complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection, IMY.

Website operation

To deliver and protect the website, IP addresses are also processed in operational server logs, separately from statistics. Logs rotate daily and are normally kept for about 14 days. Statistics collection addresses have request logging disabled. The website loads fonts from Google Fonts, connecting your browser to Google. Theme and consent choices are saved locally in your browser. If you choose to exclude your own visits in the admin panel, a preference cookie stores that choice for one year across Klinkemipedia subdomains. It contains no visitor ID and prevents future page, lecture, tool and town counts from that browser. Admin sign-in uses Google and a necessary session cookie.

The website is hosted by Hostinger on a server in Frankfurt, Germany. Hostinger processes data on my behalf as the hosting provider. The two automatic weekly backups are stored in Lithuania and replaced when new ones are created. They may contain older operational logs after those logs have been deleted from the running server. Town statistics are stored separately in memory.
